This is the old microwave stand, which started its life as a stereo speaker stand.

Underneath, to the left, is Jasper's box. Jasper won't eat where anyone can see her. She has to eat hidden in this box, which is an old Warwick Soda crate. She peers out the cut-out handle to make sure no one is approaching her as she nibbles her kibbles. She's a very strange cat.

The trash is kept under the other side of the microwave, because even though it's a lidded trash can, we still get an occasional doggy nose trying to get into it. Inside the stand, the lid only goes up so far.

To the right is the dog food bin. Don't know what we're going to do with that.

The same ugly stand from another angle.

The new kitchen light fixture. Go here to see the old one. Larry also primed and painted the ceiling, to hide food stand from the previous occupant that has bled through the last coat of pain he had put on.

Much nicer light.

Larry painting. This color is called "Old Gold". It actually looks like the came color as Dutch processed cocoa.

Old Gold dry

The new microwave stand is a black metal rack. There is room for Jasper's box and the bread machine, and next to it, the trash, again placed so that doggy noses can't open it when we're not home. I actually have room for part of my cook book collection. There are two more shelves of cook books in another room.

Still have to do something about that dog food storage container.
