Hail Storm, June 14

Everything was out of the garage, because the electrical contractor working on rewiring the house needed access to the cables running through the garage. The sky was purple, but we were hoping for rain. Instead we got this:

Though it's not obvious from this picture, the hail punched holes in the grill cover. Fortunately for us, Larry's motorcycle was not damaged. When he bought the replacement tank in 1998, he was told Kawasaki no longer made that style tank, so if it got messed up --- too bad!

The hail began small, about the size of Great Northern beans, and by the time it stopped falling, fifteen minutes later, it was the size of golf balls.

The hail punched holes in the leaves off all the plants, knocked off leaves, crushed flowers. The lavender is around the corner and at the far end of the yard, and I could smell it from the door. I knew before I saw it that the damage was bad.
Before the hail even stopped falling it was melting and sending up a mist over the hot streets.
The hail is barely visible, still falling. My car was parked in front of Larry's red truck. The hail didn't hurt the truck, but it punched three holes in the back window of the Miata, and damaged the convertible top so badly that the entire thing must be replaced.
