The Butterfly Garden

March. The Bradford pear on the other side of the wall is just blooming. The Heritage rose on the south side of the wall looks a little thin.

Late April. It was an unseasonable warm spring, and the hollyhocks love it. This one is full of buds.

This picture was actually taken in 1996. A fungus or a virus has been attacking apple trees in our neighborhood, and our was not exempt. We has to take it down the first week in May.
And this, sadly, is what's left of our poor apple tree. Later in the summer we plan on building an arbor over it, with bench seats. The wisteria that is now growing against the wall will be trained over the top of the new arbor.
May. The first Ladybug of the season.
May. Same hollyhocks as above.
After I got this geranium home, I found a stake in it that said "Do not propagate." If I had seen this at the store, I probably never would have bought it.
